Chernobyl Childrens' Appeal Concert

Mahony Hall, Helix, Dublin, March 30th, 7:30pm:

It is now almost 23 years since the devastating nuclear explosion occurred at Reactor No. 4 in the Chernobyl power plant on 26th April 1986. Unlike natural disaters, the effects of a nuclear explosion on the scale of Chernobyl lasts for centuries and blights the lives of those who live in the area.

The Chernobyl Childrens' Appeal has as their sole objective the desire to improve the life of the people, and particularly the life of the Children of Chernobyl and its hinterland. The Chernobyl Childrens' Appeal Concert takes place this year on March 30th in the Mahony Hall, Helix. This is the seventh concert in successive years in aid of the Chernobyl Childrens' Appeal in the Helix.

All the proceeds of the concert will assist with the ongoing projects in Mozyr, Belarus, which is approximately 50km from the site of the Chernobyl disaster. As well as their work in the renovation of hospitals and schools, they also organise health breaks in Ireland for children, which medical experts believe lengthens the childrens' life expectancy. Last summer, the charity was able to bring 300 children to Ireland for a three week holiday.

By your support of the concert, attending or performing, in the Mahony Hall of the Helix on March 30th, you are contributing to the work of the Chernobyl Childrens' Appeal in ensuring that Chernobyl does not become just another tragic footnote in the history books.
