About Laura

Laura is a former International, Norwegian, British Open, All Ireland, and All England Champion to name a few.

She started to dance at the age of 3 and has successfully represented Ireland in many worldwide events. She won the Juvenile International Championship at the age of 9 and was the first dancer in Ireland to do so at such a tender age. She has achieved many events in her competitive career.

Laura comes from an extremely talented dancing family and her two brothers Gary and Alan were also very successful dancers. At the age of 10 her brother Gary was presented with an award from Princess Diana in the Savoy Hotel in London for his dancing whilst also apperaring on Sky News, followed by a welcoming home reception in the Mansion House with former Lord Mayor Sean Haughey. Both Gary and Alan have also travelled the world with their dancing. All of the O'Brien Family have appeared in many national newspapers and magazines for their dancing achievements and indeed the O'Brien family are known worldwide for their excellent competitive careers. Their mother Pauline (a very popular figure among all Laura's students) was also very successful in the dance world as she taught Irish Dancing. Laura, Gary, and Alan all trained in Ireland and their careers have gone from strength to strength.

They all competed against each other in a competition on TV when they danced on the afternoon show 12 to 1 presented by Marty Whelan. They have also been involved in many film productions.Laura started teaching in Beaumont in 2005 and teaches all classes herself. Her goal is to produce top rate dancers to follow in her footsteps.Laura’s students have already achieved great success at Under 8, Juvenile (age 8-12) and Junior level (age 12-16).
